Visual Sketch

Like this blog, black and with a radiant green, the stage is black and there is a single focused shaft of light (maybe laser). The back drop is greyish/black and the lines of the sound emerge (2 possibilities; the piece proceeds across the screen or the line takes up the entire space, a sort of macro zoom -- possibilites to combine the two. A lone back figure, in a shadow/the black space/the negative space approaches the light. The shape of the body is augmented with extensions suggesting something not yet clear (possible to have the suit adjust over time or in reaction to exertion). The dancers back is to the audience, the ligh reveals all black, even a black head covering, a full head mask (in front only a spaces to breath and see, maybe mesh, allow seeing out, not in. The dancer is transformed into an alien. The clean lines, the texture - both gloss of latex and mesh of lattice enwraps. The dancer moves into the light in different ways. Possibly it is first an exploration, an alien in a new world, then a language emerges (references the book already in existence). The piece is sensual, enveloping (would be great with 8.2 channel surround speakers for panning and trajectories. The discussion between the musician at the computer and the dancer on stage is apparent to the audience as those are the dominant light sources. It is a live improvisation based on an established language of movement and score of frequency trajectory. There is both a character and a narrative here and it is non-trivial. What is the world, what is being said, where to and why?
